What is an Auction

CJM Asset Management are skilled and knowledgeable auctioneers with wide experience in the sale of all types of chattel assets. Our guiding philosophy has always been to maximise the return to the client.

Our enthusiastic and dynamic team of auctioneers pride themselves in their abilities and all receive extensive training in the art of auctioneering.

The auction method of sale is ideal for the disposal of assets where there is likely to be a broad base of prospective buyers.

Benefits include:

  • Relatively short and intense marketing campaign
  • Open Competition
  • Binding contract at fall of hammer
  • Regional, national or international marketing campaign tailored to potential value of asset
  • Large number of assets can be sold on the day
  • Cash at bank usually within 14 days of Sale Day
  • Disposal completed within fixed time frame

CJM believe the key to a successful auction sale is to identify all potential buyers for the goods to be sold and to effectively notify those buyers that the goods are available for sale. This involves implementing a cost effective marketing campaign utilising a variety of appropriate media including newspapers, specialist trade publications and the internet as well as direct mailing to potential buyers on our very extensive database.

In appropriate circumstances a worldwide marketing campaign is initiated and we are currently developing a facility to allow overseas buyers to bid at auctions in real-time over the internet if they are unable to attend the sale in person.

CJM deal with all aspects of the auction sale from initial feasibility study, production of marketing material, the auction, collection of proceeds and accounting. As Chartered Surveyors CJM operate a totally independent clients account in accordance with RICS Members Accounts Regulations. Following sale the client will receive a payment on account within 5 days and the balance in 14 days along with a detailed asset realisation statement and all VAT documentation.

Where the client does not have a sufficient volume of assets for a sale on site, or where logistical or other factors make a sale on site impractical, we are able to recover assets to our purpose built Permanent Auction Saleroom where we hold regular auction sales of plant and machinery.
